Why diversify?

DIVERSITY /dʌɪˈvəːsɪti,dɪˈvəːsɪti/ noun

1. the state of being diverse; variety. "there was considerable diversity in the style of the reports"

2. the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc. "equality and diversity should be supported for their own sake"

Diversity is a satisfying mix of ideas, cultures, races, genders, economic statuses and other characteristics necessary for promoting growth and learning among a group.

Everybody is unique, we may share similarities, but we all bring a new perspective and have different opinions and views. If we insist on staying exactly the same we cannot evolve or improve. By introducing a wider range of experience, knowledge and backgrounds we can benefit from all these perspective sand pick out the best route rather than rigidly sticking to one aging path.

Diversity in terms of investment is seen as a good idea, it's the old analogy of not putting all your eggs in one basket, just in case that basket is dropped. The same goes for the people we surround ourselves with, it is the variety which makes the world beautiful and enables growth and improvement.
